Sounds of Summer 2017: Resonance

The summer tunes just keep coming! I have to say that I’m already falling in love with the Sounds of Summer: those songs that have struck an emotional chord with me this season. But at the heart of this seemingly carefree topic is an important takeway, for every song that I’m blogging about has, in some way or another, inspired my creative writing as of late.

Tonight’s song is “Resonance,” by HOME. It’s a chillwave tune that evokes the spirit of the 80s through the use of vintage synthesizers and dreamy lo-fi textures. Think of Washed Out’s “Feel It All Around,” which has a similar nostalgic quality to it. You can listen to “Resonance” right here:

As I’ve been working on my manuscripts, “Resonance” has popped up in my writing playlist a few times. Its moderate tempo, lack of vocals, and soft reverb all help me to unwind, sit back, and appreciate the serious themes that I’ve been tackling, especially with my first-ever trilogy, The Virility Project. This song has inspired a sense of wanderlust in me, one that’s more playful and halcyon than the last song I wrote about, “Endeavour.” In short, it’s kept me from grinding away at my writing with too much focus and not enough passion.

I’ll do my best to keep you all updated on my works as I finish my second draft of Stalder Press to Handstand, as well as the second book of my trilogy, titled The Virile Army. In the meantime, feel free to share any favorite songs that you’re looking forward to listening to all summer 🙂 Have a great night!
