Hey everyone! As the weekend winds down, I wanted to post a couple of updates regarding my vlog and creative writing. I’m also getting ready to do NaNoWriMo for the second time. Less than two months until the big event!
First, the sad news. I got behind on my video editing and won’t be able to upload my next vlog entry this weekend. Since I was out and about all day yesterday, I didn’t want to come back home today and rush to make a new video that I just couldn’t pour all of my energy into. Can’t underestimate time and proper production value 🙂
The good news! Though I’ll be out of town in OKC for the Redman 70.3 Half Ironman this coming weekend, I’ll wrap up my fifth video in “The Honest Bachelor’s Life” series and set it for automatic publication. You can expect that new video on Saturday at 6:00 PM. I’m also going to work on trying to reach a larger audience. If anyone has any tips, please let me know. I’m ready to commit to helping my blog grow while continuing to make encouraging and insightful videos.
As for my writing, I’m happy to report that I’m on a regular schedule with my dystopian trilogy. I’ve been working on my second book in this series, and am tentatively calling this book The Virile Army. My goal is to have the first draft completed by October 1. I’m just about ten chapters away from the ending! While this trilogy has been a massive undertaking, especially with the world building and juggling of almost two dozen characters, it has also been one of my most fulfilling endeavors to date.
Lastly, my first round of edits for my post-apocalyptic book, Stalder Press to Handstand, are coming along slowly but surely. I’m still working to nail down a routine editing schedule. Blargh! I guess I’m more of a first draft kinda guy; this editing business can be a little cumbersome some days. Alas, there will be no polished final draft unless I keep putting in the work! Cheers to being in this for the long haul.
So, what will I do for my second NaNoWriMo journey? Right now I’m on the fence: I can either plow ahead and work on the third book in my Virility Project trilogy, or begin the sequel to Stalder Press to Handstand. Thought it’s been a tough call, my heart is pulling me towards continuing the story of Rayland Mark Calderón, Jake Knect, and their nemesis, Reg Alteo. It is, after all, a tale about coming to terms with the beasts of bereavement and grief, which clamor to be let out, no matter how bright and sunny or dark and stormy the day. I loved my first foray into the world of the apocalypse, and I’m excited to return to it very, very soon.
